Embracing telehealth

COVID challenged us all on many levels, and introduced a lot of changes to our lives.  Many of those have disappeared, thank goodness.  One development that’s likely to stay with us for a long time is the increased use of telehealth.  My recent article on Health Care Online: Getting the Most From Telehealth explains some pros, cons, and considerations for using remote care.  It’s not always suitable, but in many cases telehealth can be both effective and convenient.

Back to school: new laws are making access to period products easier

Across the country, new laws are aimed at fighting period poverty and reducing time away from the classroom for students who menstruate.  The USC Center for Health Journalism is helping to raise awareness of both challenges and solutions related to students’ access to period products.  You can read about period poverty here: Period Poverty: Exploring the stigmatization and solutions to one of America’s most silent issues; and read my new article on some of the work that’s being done to counter it here: Students across the country push for ‘menstrual equity’ laws.
